Leeds Friends have agreed to become a Sanctuary Meeting committed to building a culture of welcome, challenging racism in all its forms and helping change the laws on destitution, detention and deportation

Pat Gerwat, Clerk to LAQM writes: ‘We feel our main challenge will be working to change the prevailing negative mindset in some quarters towards asylum seekers and refugees. As a Sanctuary Meeting we will have a more powerful voice if we are campaigning together and alongside other Sanctuary Meetings. We need to get our voice heard.’
