Discovering the history.

The cradle of Quakerism.

Many Friends, in trying to understand the roots of Quakerism, find useful to visit some of the places associated with the earley development of the movement we now refere to as Quakers.  It was in 1652 that George Fox travelled the midlands and the north, talking to like minded people and preaching where he could. The area in that year where people mostly came together was what we now call the Lake district/Cumbria, parts of Lancashire and North Yorkshire.
